1966- NORAD- Blast Doors. buried deep within the solid granite of Cheyenne Mountain near Colrado Springs. NORAD stands for “North American Radar Air Defense”. It served as the nerve center for all of the early warning systems that watched the skies for incoming bombers or missles during the Cold War.
