About 800 women from Women Strike for Peace protesting on 47 Street near the UN Building during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. The group advocated for nuclear disarmament and promoting peace. Their efforts led to the Partial Test Ban Treaty in 1963 “which ended atmospheric nuclear tests.”
