Eleanor Roosevelt

25-cb

Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt is shown as she broadcasted a message to Americans from the National Broadcasting studios in New York. The former first lady said she wished to thank the soldiers in the field, as well as the people at home for the allied triumph over Germany. “I am sure,” she said, “the President (Roosevelt), would want to say that he is grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you for my husband, and thank you for myself, as a private citizen.” (May 8, 1945)
