Site of WW2’s last battlefield. Started 4/6/45 but only ended 2 days after VE Day. Fighting during the 800 Georgian soldier uprising on Holland’s Texel Island was particularly heavy here at Eierland around the lighthouse. By the time Canadian troops showed up on May 20 to relieve them only 228 Georgian soldiers were still alive.
