Hermann Leopold August Opole-Bronikowski was a general during WW2 and gold medalist in the team dressage during the Berlin Olympics, 1936. He came from an old aristocratic family; during WW2 he was a Panzer commander. He was badly wounded in 1943 and returned to duty in 1944.He fought in Normandy and was last commander of 20.Panzer Division.Postwar, he was held as POW until 1947 and then became an adviser for the new German army.
