Kursenai, Lithuania, Yekhezkel Fleisher. The photograph was taken immediately after his release from the Red Prison in Siauliai in 1941. 800 Jews were brought into this prison, after 2 months only 140 survived. He was forced to dig graves for fellow Jews in the Kozai forest. While he was in the prison, he said, “I made a vow, that if I survived, I would have myself photographed so that the memory would never be obliterated”
