History Of Prague In Pictures

29-cb

On the evening of June 2, 1942, the Protectorate government called a public meeting in the Old Town Square, in line with Nazi propaganda, to denounce the assassination attempt on Reinhard Heydrich and proclaim the Czech nation’s allegiance to Hitler’s Reich. Sixty thousand Prague residents participated in the demonstration. (Text from Burian, Michal et al (2002) “Assassination – Operation Arthropoid, 19411942” . I only added word “attempt” because Heydrich was still alive on June 2).
