Duffy, ca. 1941-1945 by Marine Corps Archives & Special Collections. “Duffy, white and brindle bulldog, will soon arrive at San Diego, California, where he will be the mascot of the U.S. Marines at the West Coast base. He is shown bidding farewell to Sergeant Earl V. Swift on the eve of his departure from Philadelphia. Duffy is a half-brother of Jiggs IV, official mascot of the Marine Corps, stationed at Quantico, VA. The dog is a gift from Dr. and Mrs. Frederic James, of Quaker City.”
