Cordelia Harvey led relief efforts for Wisconsin soldiers and their children during and after the Civil War. She persuaded President Lincoln to establish Harvey Army Hospital in Madison in 1863 and worked to relocate sick and wounded Northern soldiers from military hospitals in the South so they could recover closer to home. via: Wisconsin in the Civil War, Wisconsin Historical Society
