All ladies wore aprons in their house. They kept the dress clean. If company showed up, they grabbed a clean apron. Those were the times when moms stayed home, made three meals, tended the garden, cleaned the house, did the shopping, did the laundry, made quilts, took meals to a new mother, but other than those things, they had their time free.
