On the back of the image reads: The winged companion of the company. This osprey is the winged companion of a company since the combat action on the Dnieper River. A maintenance technical sergeant caught it when it was young in the forest on Dnieper River. It is tamed, now, and enjoys being spoiled by the whole company. It was even accounted for in the supplies list. Image from the Eastern Front, 12 December 1941.
