On 10 July 1900 Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria (later Crown Prince) married Duchess Marie-Gabrielle in Bavaria, daughter of Duke Karl-Theodor in Bavaria and Princess Marie Jos of Portugal. The bride was the niece of the Empress Elisabeth of Austria and the sister of Queen Elisabeth of the Belgians. The couple married in Munich. After Marie Gabrielle died Rupprecht would marry Princess Antoinette of Luxembourg, a 2nd cousin of Marie Gabrielle.
