“Cutting Press. DuPont deNemours Co., Carney’s Point, N.J.” July 25, 1919. This Photograph of women cutting lengths of fuses in a munitions plant was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to document the movement of women into war-related manufacturing. It also depicts the “de-skilling” of work-using unskilled workers to do repetitive tasks that were broken down into small parts.
