Joachim Rumohr was an SS-Brigade Commander and Major General of the Waffen-SS. Rumohr fought during the entire WW2, first with the Das Reich Waffen SS Division and later with the SS Cavalry Division (Russia). In July 1944, he assumed command of the 8th SS Cavalry Division “Florian Geyer”. He was a recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Rumohr was killed while trying to escape the Soviets during the Battle of Budapest on Feb 11, 1945.
