Karl Hanke was Gauleiter of Lower Silesia (1941-45) and the last Reichsfuehrer-SS for a few days in 1945, after ordered Himmler stripped of all of his offices for treason. Hanke died after he was captured fighting as a Waffen SS private and was shot trying to escape a POW camp.
