SS-Obergruppenfhrer and General of the Waffen SS and Police Werner Lorenz was chief of Main Ethnic German Resettlement Central Office, known as VoMi. VoMi was charged with deporting native populations from the occupied eastern territories in order to make room for ethnic Germans to settle inside the Reich. After the war, he was tried as war criminal and sentenced to 20 years. He was freed in 1955 and died in Hamburg in 1974.
