12 Feb 40: The syndicated radio serial “The Adventures of Superman” premieres to millions of listeners. During the war years, the Man of Steel regularly dispenses “truth, justice and the American way” to many a Nazi and Japanese spy and saboteur. Much of Superman lore originated in the radio show before making its way into the comic book or newspaper strip.
