Linda Brown and the fall of segregation In the fall of 1950, the Browns attempted to enroll their daughter Linda in the local whites-only school and were turned away. The NAACP thenfiled a lawsuit against the Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas. The case, Brown v. Board of Education, brought to the Supreme Court, was ruled on unanimously as inherently unconstitutional.
