Police operation in the Lublin Ghetto, December 1940. The police troops descend into one of the secret vaults below the ghetto in search of hidden assets of the Jewish community. This is still the beginning and the Germans are fresh and polished. Note the ceremonial dagger carried by the officer in the foreground. Ceremonial weapons were rarely carried during “Aktionen” (ops against the Jews and other ‘undesirables’).
