Richard Moser helped a Jewish employee emigrate. Moser secured Max Bernstein’s release from the Sachsenhausen concentration camp after Kristallnacht. He then asked a Dutch friend to loan Bernstein money to circumvent laws against Jews removing money from Germany. The Bernstein family sailed to the United States in April 1939. Moser and his secretary, Mrs. Zimmerman, provided food and money for Bernstein’s parents, who remained in Germany. The elder Bernsteins later died in Nazi camps.
