Soldiers (and a dog) being mustered out at Camp Dix in New Jersey around 1918. Camp Dix was built in 1917. During the First World War, Camp Dix, according to its website “was a training and staging ground for the 78th, 87th and 34th Divisions. Camp Dix grew quickly and became the largest military reservation in the Northeast. Following the armistice, the camp became a demobilization center.”
