A set of prisoner clothing – trousers, blouse, hat and wooden clogs at the Auschwitz Museum Archives. The wooden clogs were the source of much pain, suffering and death. Ill fitting and rough, they caused blisters and sores, even fatal infection due to prisoner’s weakened immune systems. Each inmate was issued only one set of clothes. The loss of clothing items, especially the cap, was severely punished. The clothing could be changed only every six to eight weeks.
