1943-01-26. Papua. Nearing the end of the Papuan campaign against Japan. Trooper Fred Beale of Brisbane shows his metal shaving mirror which prevented his being a casualty. Beale was carrying the mirror which a sniper bullet pierced. The mirror deflected the bullet and Beale escaped unhurt. (Negative by Bottomley).
