St. Elisabeth, Holy New Martyr of Russia (Grand-duchess Yelizaveta Feodorovna; 1864-1918). Princess Elisabeth, the granddaughter of British Queen Victoria married into the Romanov family when she wed the Tsar’s uncle, the Grand Duke Sergei. She departed the Imperial Court and became a nun, founding a convent dedicated to helping the downtrodden of Moscow. In 1918 she was arrested and ultimately buried alive by the Bolsheviks.
