Tunisia In WWII

31-cb

German paratroops in Tunisia with a captured M1928A1 Thompson submachine gun.The Thompson generally fired the .45 cal APC round, the same as the Colt Government Model 1911 pistol. This was an early, and quite successful, attempt at standardization with the aim of reducing the need to produce a great variety of ammo. Some variants of this weapon, like the Model 23, fired the more powerful .45 Remington-Thompson cartridge whith a heavier 250-grain bullet at higher muzzle velocities.
