Franz Reichelt (1879-1912) a.k.a. the Flying Tailor, was a tailor, inventor and parachuting pioneer. He had become fixated on developing a suit for aviators. Finally convinced of his own design he asked the Parisian Police permission to conduct a test by jumping from the Eiffel Tower. This photograph shows Reichelt before he jumped to his death.
