Vintage Photos Of Nurses – Part II

48-cb

In the air raid shelter of the ‘Foster Parents Plan for War Children’ Nursery in Hampstead, London, the night nurse checks on the toddlers as they sleep in their bunks. The shelter appears to be in the basement of the nursery. The bunks have netting or meshing over the sides to stop the children falling out. As the bunks, which are built along a wall, are three tiers high, without the ‘cage’ the children could seriously hurt themselves if they did fall out. 1941.
