This is high noon in Donora, PA, 1948 during a smog event that killed 7 and sickened 1000s. The factories nearby filled the air with so much smoke that streetlights came on even during the day. People were unable to walk or drive and kerosene lamps had trouble burning due to the lack of oxygen. The zinc plant was known for polluting and not a single plant or animal survived in a 1/2 mile radius around the plant. And yet, Republicans want to end the EPA and trust business to do the right thing.
