War criminal and murderer of soldiers who had surrendered – SS-Standartenfhrer Joachim Peiper photographed after arrest. He was charged with war crimes in Belgium and accused of crimes in Italy, but German and Italian courts dismissed the charges in 1968 because of insufficient evidence. He was murdered in July 1976 after his house was set fire with Molotov cocktails in France.
