Vintage Pictures Of The Famous Artists

William H. Johnson (March 18, 1901 – 1970) was a great African-American artist who lived in Denmark and Norway in the 1930s. Johnson married Danish textile artist Holcha Krake (April 6, 1885 – 1944, died of cancer) in 1930. They lived together in Denmark and Norway until they saw the writing on the wall as Nazism encroached on Europe. The couple relocated to the US in 1938.
